Our Games

Our team comes from all walks of life. One thing we have in common is a deep love of board and tabletop games, and we have modeled our game creation ideology around those wonderful experiences.

We want our games to be tactically deep but easily accessible. We want the Magic Table™ platform to be open to everyone, but to create environments, decorations and masks that allow for meaningful individual personalization. We want to create a new virtual universe of table-based game experiences, and let our players enjoy those experiences both independently and with their friends. 

Our Company

Experiment 7 is a VR games studio based in New York and San Diego. We develop high quality strategy games with broad market appeal. Our staff combines battle-tested game design leadership with unparalleled game data expertise and a dream team of VR, mobile, console and PC veterans. We believe in collaborative creative development, sound quality of life,
and an uncompromising commitment to product quality.

Our History

Founded in 2015, Experiment 7 started as a collaboration between founders Geoffrey "GZ" Zatkin and Demetri Detsaridis, who had previously worked together on DC Universe Online. Sharing an affinity for deep gameplay, tactical board gaming, and big data, Geoffrey and Demetri set out in the spring of 2014 to raise funds and find partners for a new endeavor.

Today, that effort manifests itself in Experiment 7, a collection of veteran game designers, engineers, artists, and producers who work to bring the tactical depth and incredible agency of strategy games to the magic of Virtual Reality. This team includes team members who have worked on the Age of Empires, Heroes of the Storm, Everquest, Call of Duty, Grand Theft Auto, and Homefront franchises as well as VR veterans who were at the forefront of the VR revolution at Autodesk and The University of Southern California's Institute for Creative Technologies.

In 2016, Experiment 7 launched Magic Table Chess, the first game in the Magic Table™ series of games and in 2017 the team launched Dungeon Chess in partnership with Wizards of the Coast. Starting with one of the world's classic strategy games has allowed us to showcase the incredible potential of tabletop games in virtual reality and validated our hypothesis that "better than life" experiences are possible in this exciting new medium. With the 2018 launch of Catan VR hitting the #1 sales position on Oculus Platforms, some of the most experienced VR developers in the industry, and partnerships with the most memorable brands in the world, Experiment 7 is poised to be a breakout leader in the virtual reality strategy space.
